The DigiTimes sources are located in the upstream supply chain to get the information that Apple will use a slim bezel display to be used in a mini iPad in order to increase the screen area that can be displayed from this mini-sized tablet.
For now, the rumors about the size for this iPad mini there are two versions, that is 7.85 inches and 7.1 inches, whether the size of which will eventually be chosen by Apple for the iPad Mini. But clearly Apple is designing a small-sized iPad to compete directly with Amazon and Samsung mini tablet on the market in order to maintain their dominance in the tablet market. Samsung is rumored to have set up the latest generation of either version of the Galaxy Tab 7 – inch and 10.1 inch in the near future. While the Amazon Kindle Fire 2 is rumored to also have set for release in May 2012.
For about the screen display, mini iPad is likely NOT going to use Retina Display as well as the latest iPad. Apple may be using the panel IPS/FFS from LG Display and AU Optronics.
About the price, Apple will target the market segment under $300 and it seems they are ready to sell it for around $249 – $299.
