At the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 that will take place in Las Vegas (January 10 to 13), LaCie will be exhibiting the newest products that support Mac computers. Known as the eSATA Hub Series Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt latest product is a first hub in the world that also support an eSATA connection.
eSATA Hub Series Thunderbolt half the size of a portable external drive. This product has two ports and two eSATA Thunderolt ports. You can connect two eSATA drives to this hub and it will automatically work with a host computer via a Thunderbolt port. While the only port you can use to connect to other devices Thunderbolt, including with other hubs if you have a lot of eSATA drives.
The maximum speed eSATA is 6Gbps so be a smart solution for those who need high speed data transfer. Speed is also equivalent to the internal hard drive so you can reduce dependence on external storage.
With the same capacity, external hard drives are also cheaper than storage devices that have support Thunderbolt. But most importantly, for those of you who have been using eSATA drives with the old model Mac, you can now upgrade to the Thunderbolt-enabled Mac newest model without having to buy an external drive. LaCie Hub is different from most of the Thunderbolt-enabled Mac that does not support eSATA.
eSATA is not a standard option for the Mac but of course this becomes the best alternative than USB 2.0. So if you are still waiting for a Thunderbolt eSATA drives or drives down prices, LaCie Hub can be the best option for now. Although no details of the price but the LaCie Hub confirmed the release in the first quarter of 2012.
