Nintendo Wii U will get a special App Store?

Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata confirmed that their latest console, Wii U will be released late 2012, despite earlier rumors had circulated that the console will be released April 2012. Nintendo Wii U will be introduced in next year’s E3 event.


Now comes news associated with the new Nintendo Wii U consoles. While Nintendo is unlikely to bring their games to mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, now they are considering the App Store for the Nintendo Wii U.

App Store will be similar to iTunes or the Android Market. And rumors are currently circulating mentions that there is a possibility they present a non-gaming applications, such as MLB.tv which allows users to run regular TV interface, and applications such as tablets that will be optimized to Wii U with 6.2-inch touchscreen display.

According to rumors, the new App Store for Nintendo Wii U will be more extensive than that offered DSiWare and WiiWare today. Some speculate that the possibility of adopting a model similar to Nintendo’s competitors, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, both of which currently offers access to various applications and services such as music and video.
