Seagate has launched a battery powered handy hard drive called ‘GoFlex Satellite’ that can be used with ios devices like iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Seagate GoFlex Satellite is comprised with a Wi-Fi interface which has the ability to access photos and movies to your iPad.
Seagate GoFlex Satellite contains a FCC filing which specifies a cable-free, battery-powered external hard disk, local network with 802.11n Wi-Fi.
Seagate GoFlex is an ios application through which you can access photos, movies, music and all the documents stored in GoFlex drive. The launch of Seagate GoFlex Satellite has increased the storage capacity of iPad up to 500GB. Now, the developers are trying to develop a similar application for Android device.
Seagate GoFlex Satellite has the capacity to access video continuously for 4 hours and possess a standby battery life of up to 25 hours. It is one of the best application to store music, TV shows and movies in the hard disk.
According to Patrick Connelly, the vice president and General Manager of Seagate’s retail group,
“With the GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage, we wished to create an elegant solution that provides real value to the multitude of iPad users out there by delivering a seamless connection to local storage.
No longer will a consumer feel as though it is a compromise to purchase a lower capacity tablet or iPad. With GoFlex Satellite, people will be able to carry their entire media library with them without the need for wires or the web at a fraction of the cost of adding 3G or purchasing or a higher capacity tablet”.
The cost of Seagate GoFlex Satellite for iPad is $200. Now, users are waiting for this application for their iPad but Seagate has asked the FCC to keep the launch secret of GoFlex Satellite.
